Overview

A private 2-day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira, about 190 km and 2.5–3 hours west, with a night in a medina riad so you see the harbour at its busiest in the morning and have time for the beach, ramparts and craft workshops.

Essaouira is about 190 km from Marrakech — 2.5–3 hours on the R207 through argan country, where you may see goats standing in the trees (often placed there for photos, so expect a tip request). A day trip gives you about four hours in town; staying the night means you see the medina after the day visitors leave and the fishing harbour at its busiest early in the morning.

Day one covers an argan cooperative on the way, a guided walk through the UNESCO-listed medina and the Skala ramparts, and sunset over the Île de Mogador. Day two starts at the harbour, then gives you a choice: a camel or horse ride on the beach towards the ruined Borj el-Berod at Diabat, or a drive to the surf village of Sidi Kaouki. Back in Marrakech by early evening.
