Overview
A private day trip from Agadir to Essaouira, about 175 km and 3 hours north on the N1 coast road, with an argan cooperative stop, a walk through the UNESCO-listed medina and the Skala ramparts, and time at the blue-boat harbour.
Essaouira sits about 175 km north of Agadir — roughly 3 hours each way on the N1, which follows the Atlantic past Taghazout and Tamri before turning inland through argan country. It is a long driving day, so we start early and keep the stops purposeful: a women's argan oil cooperative near Tamanar and a viewpoint over the coast.
In Essaouira you walk the 18th-century medina (UNESCO-listed since 2001), climb onto the Skala de la Ville ramparts with their bronze cannons, and watch the fishing fleet unload at the harbour. Lunch can be grilled fish chosen straight from the harbour stalls. Free time for the thuya-wood workshops and galleries, then back to Agadir in the early evening.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
How far is Essaouira from Agadir?
About 175 km, which takes roughly 3 hours each way on the N1 coast road. With stops, plan on about 6 hours of driving in the day and around 5 hours in Essaouira.
Is Essaouira worth a day trip from Agadir?
Yes, if you don't mind the drive. It is a very different town from Agadir: an 18th-century walled medina, a working fishing port and an artisan quarter. If you want a slower visit, ask us to quote an overnight stay.
Is it windy in Essaouira?
Often. The trade winds blow hardest from about April to September, which is why the town is a kitesurfing centre. Bring a windproof layer even in summer.
