Questions people ask before booking
- Yes, if you go to Zagora: about 360 km and seven hours each way over the Tizi n'Tichka pass and down the Drâa valley, with a night in a desert camp. The dunes there are smaller than Merzouga's Erg Chebbi, which is about 560 km from Marrakech and needs three days.
- Zagora fits two days and still gives you a camel ride and a night under the stars, but the dunes are modest. Merzouga's Erg Chebbi is the tall orange sand sea most photos show; from Marrakech it takes three days, or two very long days from Fes.
- Yes, from Imlil. Day one is a five to six hour walk up to the refuge at about 3,200 m; day two is an early start for the 4,167 m summit and the walk down to Imlil. You need good fitness and walking boots, and you go with a licensed mountain guide.
- Yes. Fes to Merzouga and back in two days works, but it means about seven to eight hours of driving each way, through Ifrane and the Ziz valley. If you have a third day, the 3-day version is far more comfortable.
- It depends on the trip: a desert camp, a mountain refuge, a kasbah guesthouse or a riad. Each trip page lists the night and the meals, and your written quote names the exact place before you pay anything.
