Hot-Air Balloon Ride Over Marrakech
A half-day sunrise flight from Marrakech — pre-dawn pickup, 45 to 60 minutes drifting over the palmeraie and desert plains as the High Atlas turns gold, then a Berber breakfast under a tent on landing. Door-to-door pickup, licensed pilots, and you're back at your riad by late morning.
The short answer
A hot-air balloon ride over Marrakech is a half-day, pre-dawn experience: a private driver collects you from your riad before sunrise, you spend 45 to 60 minutes airborne over the palmeraie and desert plains as the High Atlas turns gold, then land for a Berber breakfast under a tent and are back at your riad by about late morning. You fly with licensed CAA-Morocco pilots at dawn, when the air is calmest. Flights are weather-dependent and the basket is shared by default, with private upgrades on request — from $180 per person.

What you see & do
Sunrise, silence and the Atlas turning gold
A half-day experience from Marrakech: pre-dawn pickup, a 45–60 minute flight over the palmeraie and desert plains as the Atlas turns gold, then a Berber breakfast and an optional camel ride.
Lift-off at first light
A pre-dawn launch as the burners fire and the balloon climbs over the plain. From the basket you watch the High Atlas turn gold and the sky shift from grey to rose — the single most photographed moment of the morning.
Over the palmeraie and plains
Forty-five minutes to an hour drifting above the Marrakech palmery and the open desert plains beyond. It is quiet, slow flying — no engine noise, just the burner and the country sliding past below you.
A Berber breakfast on landing
Once you touch down there is a breakfast under a Berber tent at the landing site — a tagine of eggs, mint tea and msemen pancakes — before the short drive back into the city.
Flight certificate and photos
Your flight comes with a certificate and photos so you leave with more than the memory. An optional camel ride through the palm grove can be added before you head back.

Who it suits
Is the balloon flight right for you?
Couples & special occasions
The reason most people book it. Sunrise over the Atlas is a genuine bucket-list morning, and private or semi-private baskets are available for honeymoons, proposals and milestone trips — just ask at booking.
Short on time
It is a half-day morning, not a whole day. Pickup is pre-dawn and you are back at your riad by late morning, so the rest of your day in Marrakech stays free for the souks, a pool or another trip.
Groups & families
You fly in a shared basket (a private one is available on request). Balloon operators set their own minimum-age and fitness policies — you climb in and out of the basket yourself — so tell us who is travelling and we'll confirm what works for your group.

A half-day morning: pickup around 05:00, roughly an hour in the air, breakfast on landing, and back at your riad by about 10:30 — leaving the rest of the day free.
Yes. We fly only with fully licensed CAA-Morocco operators and experienced pilots, flying at dawn when conditions are calmest. Flights are weather-dependent and will be rescheduled (not flown) if the wind is unsuitable.
Yes — private and semi-private baskets are available for honeymoons, proposals and special occasions. Tell us at booking and we'll quote the upgrade.
Very early. Pickup from your riad is before sunrise — usually around 05:00 — because balloons fly at first light when the air is calmest and coolest. The exact pickup time shifts through the year with the season's sunrise, and your driver confirms it the day before.
The price covers private hotel or riad pickup and drop-off, coffee and pastries before the flight, the 45–60 minute flight with a licensed pilot, a Berber-tent breakfast on landing, and a flight certificate with photos. Tips for the pilot and ground crew, the optional camel-ride add-on and any private-basket upgrade are paid locally, so you only pay for what you choose. Flights start from $180 per person.
Ballooning is weather-dependent. Flights only go ahead in safe, calm conditions, and at dawn that is most mornings — but if the wind is unsuitable the flight is not flown. In that case it is rescheduled to another morning where possible, or an alternative is arranged; we confirm the operator's exact rebooking terms with you at the time of booking.
