Three valleys in a single loop
Rather than following one valley out and back, the day makes a loop through three — the green, terraced Ourika, the high Oukaïmeden plateau and the apple-growing Asni valley below Jbel Toubkal. It is the most varied way to see the High Atlas in a single day from Marrakech.
The Oukaïmeden plateau at 2,600m
The drive climbs to Oukaïmeden, Africa's highest ski station, for sweeping mountain views — a snow-capped plateau in winter (roughly December to March) and alpine meadows in summer. It is cool at altitude year-round, so a warm layer earns its place in your bag.
A Berber home & mint tea
A stop at a traditional Berber home in the Ourika valley for mint tea, and a short walk through terraced fields and mountain villages with your driver-guide — who is from the Atlas and speaks Berber as well as English and French.
A camel walk & a cooperative
In the Asni valley, a short and entirely optional camel or mule walk through the foothills, plus a stop at an argan or carpet cooperative where you can watch how it is made and buy direct from the growers if you wish.
