A Berber village walk
An easy hour on foot through terraced fields and walnut groves with a local herbalist guide, who points out wild mint, thyme and saffron and explains how the community farms the steep valley walls.
The Setti Fatma waterfalls
An optional 45-minute walk up the gorge to the first of the seven falls. It is rewarding but honest going — stepping stones over the river and a short rocky scramble that can be slippery, so grippy shoes earn their keep.
A saffron cooperative
A short stop at a cooperative that grows saffron at altitude — among the highest in Morocco. See how each crocus is hand-picked before 10am and buy direct from the growers.
A riverside tagine lunch
Time to slow down at a family-run terrace restaurant built out over the river — slow-cooked lamb tagine, fresh salads, Berber bread and mint tea, with the water running below you.
