Overview
The classic Marrakech day trip: an hour south into the Berber valleys for a village walk, a saffron cooperative, riverside tagine lunch and an optional waterfall hike — back in the city by evening.
The Ourika Valley is the most rewarding day trip from Marrakech — close, cool and genuinely beautiful. The road runs south into the High Atlas following the Ourika river through terracotta villages, terraced fields and walnut groves. An hour from the medina and the air is already fresh; another twenty minutes and the valley walls close in and the snow-capped peaks appear.
We keep this full-day excursion slow and on foot: a Berber village walk with a local guide, a stop at the Ourika saffron cooperative, a tagine lunch on a riverbank terrace, and an optional 45-minute walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls. Departs Marrakech in the morning, back at your riad by early evening.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
How long is the Ourika Valley day trip from Marrakech?
A full day — pickup around 09:00 and back at your riad by roughly 17:30. The drive each way is about an hour, leaving plenty of time for the village walk, lunch and the optional waterfall hike.
Is this day trip suitable for children?
Excellent for families. The village walk is flat and easy; the waterfall hike involves stepping stones and a short scramble that most children over six manage with a hand from the guide. We adjust the pace to your group.
What is the best time of year for the Ourika Valley?
October to April, when the Atlas is snow-capped and the valley is lush. July and August are hot in the valley but the drive stays pleasant. The saffron harvest runs through November.
Is this a private or shared day trip?
Entirely private. Your driver and guide work only with your group — we never combine strangers on any of our excursions.
